Introduction

The Right Space was published in 2005 and uses the Access Board’s 2004 ADA Accessibility Guidelines.

Although the ADA Guidelines have changed only slightly since then—the 2010 update—always adhere to local building codes.

The general rule is: city, county, and state laws may be more stringent than the ADA Accessibility Guidelines, the International Building Code, industry standards, or the guidelines contained in this book.

What is important is, make your new home or remodeling project wheelchair friendly, and the drawings and details in this book will help you do that.
